Value: £40, 000

Architect: Inhouse

Company's involvement

ACS Ltd was called in to design an effective electrically-operated smoke and daily ventilation system which would replace the obsolete pneumatic system previously installed.

Pneumatic cylinders were removed from the existing vents and replaced with quieter and more effective 24V dc chain actuators. Additional control cabinets incorporating battery backup were also supplied and interfaced with the existing building management system (BMS). The entire system was designed, installed and shall be maintained by ACS's team of engineers.

This system has been designed to automatically open 44 highlevel vents located in the atrium and vent smoke in a fire situation. In addition these vents will also open on a daily basis as required by the BMS in order to regulate the internal temperature of the building.

In addition to modifying existing smoke vents, ACS Ltd also installed automatic overhead electric operators to Fire Exit doors, ensuring that all doors will open in the event of a fire alarm.
