ACS was commissioned to assist with the design and installation of an internal Smoke Ventilation System for a new multi-storey student accommodation block in the heart of Bournemouth.
The system consisted of two internal Smoke Shafts per block into which Automated Fire Doors would open from each common lobby area, thereby venting smoke into the shaft in the event of a fire. At the head of each shaft we have installed one of our Roof Open Sky Louvre vents which automatically opens in conjunction with any one of the Smoke Shaft AOV's. Each Smoke Shaft AOV from the common lobby areas opens independently, thereby preventing cross contamination of smoke from one floor to another. The entire system is linked to a centralised control cabinet with integral battery backup and fire alarm interface. Each AOV can be closed automatically via the remote fireman's override switch.
